KEY PERSON Your child will be allocated a key person. This will be a member of staff, who will help your child settle in. She will also work and play with your child, write your child’s report and in the communication book if it is required. Do stop and have a chat with her after each session if you wish. She will show you any work that your child has produced.
BOOK BAGS AND COMMUNICATION BOOKS At Stepping Stones all children are issued with a book bag. These must be brought every session. All notices, information and your child’s work will be put in the bag.
A communication book will be issued when a parent is working every day and we are not able to share information verbally. If you feel that a communication book would be useful for you please see your key worker.
Updates are given every term on your child’s progress. Once or twice a year we have a parents evening where children’s work is displayed. You can view your child’s folder and discus progress with your key person, but please remember you are welcome to view your child’s folder and speak to the key person or the supervisor at any time. The headmaster from the infant school also attends the evening, so you may have an informal talk with him, presenting any questions you have about the school.
NEW ARRIVALS When new children start at the group, we will do all we can to help them settle in as quickly as possible. Please stay for as long as he/she needs you, and encourage them to join in with the activities. By settling your child in gently, he/she will gradually become a confident and independent child.
